National American Indian Court Judges Association
The National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA) is a non-profit organization primarily devoted to the support of American Indian and Alaska Native justice systems through education, information sharing and advocacy. The Association adopted Articles of Incorporation in 1969 and received federal non-profit tax status under section 501(c)(3) in 1973. Its membership is primarily judges, justices and peacemakers serving in tribal justice systems. NAICJA is governed by written Association By-Laws. Management and direction of the Association is carried out by an elected Board of Directors. The Association periodically issues Annual Reports.
The mission of the Association, as a national representative membership organization, is to strengthen and enhance tribal justice systems. NAICJA's objectives and purposes include the following:
- To foster the continued development, enrichment and funding of tribal justice systems as a visible exercise of tribal sovereignty and self-government.
- To provide continuing education for tribal judges and tribal justice staff members in order to promote and enhance the operation of the tribal judiciary.
- To further the public knowledge and understanding of tribal justice systems.
- To establish and maintain a forum for the dissemination of information concerning issues impacting tribal justice systems throughout the United States.
- To encourage and assist Tribal officials to support educational programs in an effort to serve the purposes and objectives of the Association.
- To conduct generally any and all research and educational activities for the purposes of promoting the affairs and achieving the purposes and objectives of the Association.
- To secure financial assistance and support for the advancement of said purposes and objectives.

The National American Indian Court Judges Association is holding its 38th Annual Conference in Choctaw, Mississippi at the beautiful Pearl River Resort Hotel & Conference Center on October 15th-17th, 2007. For the past 38 years NAICJA has conducted its annual conference to improve and enhance tribal justice and strengthen tribal sovereignty. Our conferences would not have been possible without the generosity of sponsors making contributions to help us cover our expenses. We have no other funding source for our annual conference.
Again, as in years past, we call upon you to help us as we prepare to hold our 38th Annual Conference. Our theme this year is "Honoring Justice, Respecting Tradition". Many conferences compete for tribal travel and training funds, and costs are rising. As a sponsor you help keep these costs reasonable and affordable. This year's sponsorships will cover a number of conference events and help keep our registration fees reasonable for our participants and their tribes. This year's host tribe, the Mississippi Choctaws, has allowed us generous discounts in our accommodations.
Perhaps the most important function is our opening reception the night before our conference opening. The reception is very popular with our participants as it allows them to network and touch base with their peers and colleagues from across the country. Traditionally, the sponsor is prominently listed through signage as a co-host where the beverages and hors d'oeuvre are served. Additionally, a short presentation by our sponsor is normally allowed if requested in advance, and of course we acknowledge all our sponsors in our Conference Program and during opening comments. This year's opening reception sponsorship is $3500.
In addition, as our conference attendance has grown, our luncheon banquet costs have grown as well. This year's luncheon banquet will attract over 125 attendees who will hear from a distinguished and well-known keynote speaker. Our luncheon banquet sponsor will be recognized in our Conference Program and announced by our luncheon moderator. This year's luncheon banquet sponsorship is $5000.
As has been our tradition, conference bags or similar items will be made available to our conference participants upon registration. Your company’s logo will be clearly displayed on the bag or item along with NAICJA's, indicating your sponsorship of this item and the conference. This sponsorship is $2500.
A number of smaller, but equally important coffee break sponsorships are available for during our morning and afternoon sessions. We have a total of seven breaks available at $1500 each. Again, your sponsorship will be acknowledged in our Conference Program and during the break and each session.
A new sponsorship this year includes providing scholarships for attendees in several different amounts. These sponsorships will be recognized in our conference program.
Please be aware NAICJA will recognize those tribes, individuals and organizations who sponsor events in the following manner: 1) Signs will be made and placed where people are coming out of breaks will see them; 2) Announcing to attendees who is sponsoring the event; 3) Putting the name of the company sponsoring the break on the agenda, and; 4) all donors will recieve free ads in the conference program on the sponsors page. ****Also note all donations are tax deductible.
If you are unable to help us through a sponsorship or donation, we offer you another opportunity to help us by purchasing an advertisement in our beautiful Conference Program. The Conference Program is a color publication containing an agenda, welcoming letters and presenter biographies. Color ads are available for full, half, quarter and 1/8 page sizes. The prices are $750 for a full 4-color page ad; half page for $400; a quarter-page for $250 and finally $150 for a 1/8 page. Again your support and patronage is appreciated.
